Meet the Happy Pear!


Say hi to David & Stephen Flynn! The twin brothers from Ireland, who are very much into vegan cooking. On February 9, those guys visited the ‘Gezondheidsbeurs’ (Health Fair) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. We had an interview with them at the ‘Kook Theater’ where they gave a presentation.  

It all began in 2001. The two brothers changed their diet. At first, they became vegetarian. However, that triggered it all, and they opened their own fruit & veg-shop. After that, they opened their café in 2005. They did this as vegetarians, because vegan was not very well-known at that time. In the meantime they have 33 products in around a thousand stores in Ireland, from hummus to pesto, to granola, to juices and soups. Their products are sold in the Irish supermarkets, as well as in the UK. “We’ve got three cafes, we do cook books, we do talks, we do YouTube and TV. There are 130 people in our team, it is quite a business…” As the business was growing, they had opportunities to open up many more shops and to become more busy: “But we made the decision a few years ago that we want a happy lifestyle, have breakfast with our family, bring our kids to school, put our kids to bed, have a balance between the work you love and have family time. What I’m most proud of is that we combine it all.” But what is coming up next? “At the moment we’ve got online courses, we just released ‘the happy gut course’. And we are building on an online vegan cooking course at the moment.”

The Happy Pear: Recipes for Happiness
Their last book, ‘The Happy Pear: recipes for happiness’, is the first one that is an international bestseller. They put in a lot of easy, quick and tasty vegan food and 10-minute vegan dinners. It was all based on their YouTube channel: “We were asked by Jamie Olivier to join his YouTube channel, five years ago. Through YouTube we realized; people want quick dinners. You can cook a dinner in five minutes; like we just did in the workshop.” In the meantime, they’ve got 50 five minute dinners with 20 million views on YouTube.

For the book they turned the five minute dinners into 15 minute dinners: “In 15 minutes you will have a nice, healthy dinner, such as tikka masala with chick peas or a Thai yellow curry.” Also, they offer you smart healthy alternatives to burgers, nuggets and kebabs and sweetness like chocolate chip cookies and brownie pie. When we ask them to tell us what their favorite snack is David & Stephen Flynn answer: “Fruit. I like navel oranges, blueberries or raspberries, nuts and dried fruits, like dates. And  dipping an apple in almond butter!” His brother adds: “I like dried figs and brazil nuts.” At the question if they know a healthier receipt for the in Ireland famous Banoffee pie, they answer: “Yes, we make it a lot! Our version won’t fill you up to the same degree, but it tastes better and it is much healthier!” The book contains about a hundred recipes, and furthermore, inspiration to feel happier!

Mooji, también conocido como Anthony Paul Moo-Young es para muchos un guía espiritual que se dedica a demostrar a los buscadores de la Verdad, que ‘feliz y libre’ es nuestro modo natural de ser. La manera como lo hace es permitiéndonos experimentar que detrás de todas nuestras ideas, conceptos, creencias , sentimientos, pensamientos, impresiones, recuerdos y expectativas, podemos entrar en contacto con el Quién Soy Realmente.

Este Ser Verdadero es el Espectador inmóvil que poseemos, que tranquilamente es consciente de todo, de Lo Que Es. Este estado del Ser, carente de ego, podríamos lograrlo si dejáramos todo con lo que nos identificamos, no se puede estar depresivo, ni ansioso, ni infeliz ni apresurado … simplemente se ES.

Una visita a Mooji es apropiada para nosotros, representantes de Stichting Gezondheid, una fundación que se esfuerza no solo por la salud física, sino también por la salud emocional, psicológica y espiritual de las personas.

Antes de comenzar el Satsang de Mooji en la Filarmónica de Haarlem, dos mujeres de aspecto sereno, vestidas con ropa Ashram nos dan la bienvenida. Somos guiados al sitio donde debemos sentarnos.’La sala está completamente llena, en el aire se percibe un olor suave a incienso y se escucha una música agradable.

Tras la entrada de Mooji, toda la sala se emociona. Su rostro y su apariencia son ya terapéuticos: es imposible no sentirse más alegre, feliz y concentrado en el aquí y en el ahora después de verlo. Mooji tiene una sonrisa, un brillo en sus ojos e irradia un aspecto hermoso y amoroso. Después de sentarse, se toma primero unos minutos para contemplar a los asistentes. Parece como si estuviese bendiciendo sin palabras a todas las personas de la sala. Algunos comienzan a sollozar o a llorar.

Luego nos comenta que nos ayudará a liberar nuestras identificaciones, para darnos cuenta que somos inmensidad, calma y vacío, la razón de la existencia de la vida misma.

Nos pide no solo literalmente dejar nuestros zapatos en la puerta, sino también nuestras opiniones, problemas, pensamientos, juicios, intenciones, apegos, creencias, interpretaciones del presente, en resumen, todo el contenido de nuestra consciencia. Entre más ‘desnudos’ estemos, más cerca estaremos de este Estado del Ser.

La tranquilidad invade la sala. Mooji pregunta si el Ser tiene un nacer. Un morir. Si puede ser limitado. O terminado. O impresionado, o halagado u ofendido. O si pudiese ser propiedad exclusiva de alguna organización de fe… Cada vez, la respuesta de los asistentes es ‘no’. Lo que permanece después de haber liberado todas las identificaciones del ego, es el Estar Presente En Toda Nuestra Totalidad.

Parece que Mooji nos diera un curso intensivo de Iluminación. Quiere permitirnos experimentar la trascendencia. La gente parece entender el mensaje. Parece, únicamente, ya que aunque Mooji nos pide dejar atrás nuestro pasado, así sea por las pocas horas que estaremos juntos, las personas que tienen preguntas comienzan por hablar extensamente acerca de su pasado. Mooji nos pide no verlo como un gurú, sino ir a la búsqueda de nuestro gurú interno. Sin embargo, algunas mujeres del público le preguntan si pueden abrazarlo, porque ese es el único deseo que sienten. Mientras Mooji menciona que no tiene identidad, se escucha música hindú con un sitar, probablemente porque esto concuerda con la imagen que tenemos de un gurú, aunque él originalmente viene de Jamaica y ha vivido 40 años en Londres.

Mooji nos aconseja no solo probar la proverbial miel, sino ser ella misma. ‘Te conviertes en la respuesta’. Nos hace un llamado a conectarnos con la Fuente, el Ser eterno, la experiencia de vida que acabamos de tener. Declara que la verdadera espiritualidad es simple. Esto hace que la vida sea más ligera, más juguetona y más pura. El descubrimiento más grande será cuando sepamos que todo está ya dentro de nosotros. ‘Your homework is to Stay Home’.

Lo mejor de Mooji es su amorosa aceptación de todo el evento. Nos mira lleno de ternura, entendiendo que las verdades más profundas necesitan algo más de tiempo para ser comprendidas realmente. Él permanece tolerante, infinitamente paciente y majestuosamente respetuoso, incluso si alguien de la sala toma la palabra y se ‘roba el show’ por así decirlo. Él está dispuesto a encontrarse con el otro en su nivel. ‘Gracias’, dice Mooji. ‘Gracias a tí’.

La mejor prueba de que el mundo divino existe, es una persona en lo que lo divino se refleja: cuando él mira y escucha a la gente, una aceptación incondicional, una paciencia sin límites y un amor absoluto emanan de su corazón. Mooji ES. Sin conceptos, opiniones, identificaciones, irritaciones, dudas, juicios, emociones… solo Ser. Él es la prueba viviente de lo que predica. Su manera de ser es su religión. Él parece haber encontrado lo divino en su ser más interior y ha puesto su personalidad al servicio de éste Ser divino.

Mooji, es tanto lo que podemos aprender de tí! Gracias por tu inagotable paciencia con todos, tu fe tranquila e inquebrantable en la Luz invisible, que finalmente, permitirá que cada parte del Ser esencialmente indivisible, alcance la Autorrealización…

Al llegar a casa, las palabras de Mooji aún retumban en la mente: ‘Ustedes son las semillas del Despertar en un mundo dormido’.

Mooji, também conhecido como Anthony Paul Moo-Young é para muitos um guia espiritual dedicado a demonstrar aos buscadores da Verdade, que ‘feliz e livre’ é nosso natural modo de ser. O modo como ele o faz é permitindo-nos experimentar que por trás de nossas ideias, conceitos, crenças, sentimentos, pensamentos, impressões, lembranças e expectativas, podemos entrar em contato com o Quem sou Realmente.

Este Ser Verdadeiro é o espectador imóvel que todos nós possuímos, que é tranquilamente ciente de tudo, do Que É. Este estado do Ser, carente de ego, poderíamos consegui-lo se deixássemos tudo àquilo com o que nos identificamos, não pode se estar depressivo, nem ansioso, nem infeliz, nem apressado… Simplesmente SER.

Uma visita ao Mooji é apropriada para nós, representantes de Stichting Gezondheid, uma fundação que se esforça não unicamente pela saúde física, mas também, pela saúde emocional, psicológica e espiritual das pessoas.

Antes de começar o Satsang de Mooji na Filarmónica de Haarlem, duas mulheres de aspecto sereno, vestidas com roupa Ashram nos recebem. Somos guiados até o lugar onde devemos sentar. A sala está lotada, no ar percebe-se um cheiro suave de incenso e escuta-se uma música agradável.

Após que Mooji entra, a sala toda fica comovida. Seu rosto e sua aparência são por si terapêuticos: é impossível não sentir-se mais alegre, feliz e concentrado no aqui e no agora depois de vê-lo. Mooji tem um sorriso e um brilho nos seus olhos que irradiam um aspecto belo e amoroso. Depois de sentar-se, dedica uns minutos para contemplar os assistentes. Parece como se estivesse abençoando sem palavras a todas as pessoas na sala. Alguns começam a soluçar ou até chorar.

Logo, explica-nos que ajudará a libertar nossas identificações, para perceber que somos imensidade, calma e vácuo, a razão da existência da vida mesma.

Pede-nos não apenas deixar nossos sapatos na porta literalmente, mas também nossas opiniões, problemas, pensamentos, juízos, intenções, apegos, crenças, interpretações do presente; em resumo, tudo o conteúdo de nossa consciência. Entre mais ‘nus’ estivermos, mais perto estaremos deste Estado do Ser.

A tranquilidade invade a sala. Mooji pergunta se o Ser tem um nascimento. Uma morte. Se pode ser limitado. Ou findo. Ou impressionado, ou lisonjeado ou ofendido. Ou se pudesse ser propriedade exclusiva de alguma organização de fe… Toda vez, a resposta dos assistentes é ‘não’. O que permanece depois de ter libertado todas as identificações do ego, é o Estar Presente Em Toda Nossa Totalidade.

Parece que Mooji desse um curso intensivo de iluminação. Quer permitir experimentar a transcendência. As pessoas parecem entender a mensagem. Embora o único que Mooji exige-nos é deixar de lado nosso passado, mesmo que seja pelas poucas horas que estaremos juntos, as pessoas que têm perguntas começam a falar extensivamente sobre seu passado.. Mooji pede-nos não enxergá-lo como um guru, mas sim para ir à procura de nosso guru interno. Porém, algumas mulheres da plateia perguntam- lhe se podem abraçá-lo, já que é o único desejo que sentem. Enquanto Mooji menciona que não tem identidade, escuta-se música hindu com um sitar, provavelmente porque isto concorda com a imagem que temos de um guru, embora ele seja originariamente da Jamaica e tenha morado 40 anos em Londres.

Mooji aconselha- nos não apenas experimentar o mel proverbial, mas também ser ele mesmo. ‘Você torna-se a resposta’. Chama-nos a ligarmos com a Fonte, o Ser eterno, a experiência de vida que acabamos de experimentar. Declara que a verdadeira espiritualidade é simples. Isto faz que a vida seja mais leve, mais lúdica e mais pura. O maior descobrimento será quando soubermos que tudo está dentro de nós. ‘Your homework is to Stay Home’.

O melhor de Mooji é sua amorosa acolhida durante o evento todo. Olha-nos cheio de ternura, entendendo que as verdades mais profundas precisam de mais tempo para ser realmente compreendidas. Ele permanece tolerante, infinitamente paciente e majestosamente respeitoso, inclusive se alguém na sala fala demais querendo sobressair. Ele está disposto a encontrar-se com o outro no seu nível. ‘Obrigado’, diz Mooji. ‘Obrigado eu’.

A melhor prova de que o mundo divino existe, é uma pessoa na qual o divino é refletido, quando ele olha e escuta as pessoas, uma aceitação incondicional, uma paciência sem limites e um amor absoluto emanam do seu coração. Mooji É. Sem conceitos, opiniões, identificações, irritações, dúvidas, juízos, emoções… só Ser. Ele é a prova vivente do que prega. Seu jeito de ser é sua religião. Ele parece ter encontrado o divido no seu ser mais interior e tem colocado sua personalidade ao serviço deste Ser divino.

Mooji, é tanto o que podemos aprender de você! Obrigado pela sua inesgotável paciência com todos, sua fe tranquila é inquebrantável  na Luz invisível, que finalmente, permitirá que cada parte do Ser essencialmente indivisível, atinja sua Autorealização…

Ao chegar em casa, as palabras de Mooji ainda ecoam na mente: ‘Vocês são as sementes do Despertar num mundo dormido’…

Attending Mooji’s Satsang

For many, Mooji, also known as Anthony Paul Moo-Young, is a spiritual guide who aims to help seekers of the Truth realize that ‘happy & free’ is our natural state of being. He accomplishes this by having us experience that, behind all our ideas, concepts, beliefs, feelings, thoughts, impulses, memories and expectations, we can come into contact with Who We Truly Are.

This True Self is the still Spectator inside us, that which is calmly aware of everything, That Which IS. We could attain this ego-less state of Being if we were to let go of all our identifications. It cannot be depressed, or anxious, or unhappy, or in a hurry … it just IS.

As such, going to see Mooji was certainly fitting for us as representatives of Stichting Gezondheid, which not only strives to help people with their physical health, but also with their emotional, psychological and spiritual health.

Prior to Mooji’s satsangs at the Philharmonie in Haarlem, we received a warm welcome from two serene-looking ladies dressed in ashram clothing. We were shown where we should sit. The hall was filled with people, a soft scent of incense was in the air and beautiful music was playing.

Everyone in the hall became enthusiastic when Mooji appeared. His face and appearance on their own were therapeutic enough: you could not help but feel happier, more cheerful and more In The Moment. Mooji had an easy smile and twinkling eyes and he radiated a pleasant aura of love. After sitting down, he took a few minutes to calmly take in all his attendees, as though he was wordlessly blessing everyone. Some people started sobbing or weeping.

Next, he told us he was going to help us let go of our identifications, to help us realize that we are vastness, tranquillity and emptiness, the reasons for the existence of life itself.

He asked us to let go of everything: our opinions, problems, thoughts, intentions, attachments, beliefs, convictions, interpretations of the present, everything. All the contents of our consciousness. The more ‘naked’ we become, the closer we get to this State of Being.

The hall became quiet. Mooji asked whether this Being had a birth. A death. Whether it could be limited. Or finite. Or impressed, flattered, offended. Or whether it could be owned exclusively by any organized religion … Every time, the answer from the hall was “no.” That which remains after we let go of all identifications of our ego, is The Being Present In Our Own Wholeness.

It seemed as though Mooji was giving us a crash course on Enlightenment. He wanted to have us experience transcendence. The message seemed to reach the audience. Seemed, because while Mooji asked us to leave our past behind us for the few hours we were together, the people who wanted to ask questions first started talking extensively about their pasts. And though Mooji asked us not to see him as a guru but to seek our own inner guru, various women in the hall asked if they could hug him as that was their one and only wish. And though Mooji indicated that he had no identity, Indian sitar music was playing for him, probably because it fits the image we have of a guru, though he was originally from Jamaica and spent forty years in London.

Mooji advised us to not just want to taste the proverbial honey, but to be it ourselves. “You become the answer.” He urged us to keep connecting with the Source, the eternal Being, the living experience we had just had. He explained that true spirituality is always simple. It makes your life lighter, more playful and more pure. The greatest discovery will be that everything is already within us. “Your homework is to Stay Home.”

The nicest thing about Mooji was his loving acceptance of the whole event. He regarded us with a lot of tenderness, knowing that the deeper truths require more time to truly sink in. He remained ever tolerant, endlessly patient and royally respectful, even when a man in the hall made a speech and ‘stole the show’ from him. He was more than happy to meet everyone on their own level. “Thank you,” said Mooji. “Thank You.”

The greatest proof that the godly world exists is a person who reflects godliness: as he watched and listened to the people, unconditional acceptance, endless patience and boundless love seemed to pour from his heart. Mooji IS. No concepts, opinions, identifications, annoyances, doubts, judgements, emotions … Only Being. He is the living example of what he preaches. His state of being is his religion. He seems to have found the godliness in his deepest inner self and to have placed his personality in the service of that godly Being.

We have a lot to learn from you, Mooji! Thank you for your inexhaustible patience for everyone and your calm, rock-solid faith in the invisible Light that will eventually let every part of the fundamentally undivided Self come to Self-Realization …

As we returned home, Mooji’s words still rang in our ears: “You are the seeds of Awakening in a sleeping world.”

In 1957, Mr. William Coda Martin tried to answer the question: When is food actually a food and when is it a poison?

 

Definition of poison

His definition of “poison” was: “Medically: Every substance taken in by the body  or developed within the body which may eventually cause a disease”. Dr. Martin has indeed proved that sugar is poisonous and should be considered as such.

The toxicity of sugar is partially due to the consistency of pure refined carbohydrates. It is a chemical substance. Our body cannot use this poisonous substance because it does not contain any vitamins, minerals and other substances, which our body to keep us healthy. What happens if sugar is consumed and starts working in a well-balanced body?

 

What activates sugar in our body?

The balance of homeostasis (the inner environment in our body) is so essential that minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium are used to keep this balance. For example, to neutralize sugar in the blood (sugar creates acid in our bodies), the body will take calcium from the bones and teeth which will lead to decay and osteoporosis. If our body consumes sugar every day, our body will eventually use up all of these very important minerals. Therefore, a lack of minerals will undermine and weaken our health and our resistance to diseases.. This process produces the most of those terrible free radicals, which cause considerable harm. Think of free radicals as of nuclear annihilation of your body.

 

How is excess sugar digested in the body?

Excess sugar affects every organ in the body, such as the liver. The liver is the place where sugar is stored in the form of glucose. In the end, if we take in too much sugar the liver cannot store all of it anymore and will return the excess sugar back to the bloodstream, in the form of fatty acids. After these areas are filled up, the fatty acids will then be distributed among such organs as the heart and kidneys.

Aspartame, the Silent Killer

North America is suffering from an epidemic of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Lupus. Most people do not understand why this epidemic exists, they do not know why these diseases are so rampant. These days, many people use artificial sweeteners in their coffee or tea. They do this because adverts keep telling them how bad sugar is for their health. Truly!! Sugar is poisonous. A much more deadly substitute, however, is Aspartame!! It is the cause of the epidemic. Aspartame is a highly poisonous chemical substance, produced by Monsanto.

Around the world, Aspartame is used as a substitute for sugar in food and soft drinks, like Diet Coke and other diet products. It is also used to replace sugar in artificial sweeteners. Aspartame is sold as a diet product, but it actually leads to an increase in weight because it makes you long for carbohydrates, which are sugars too. The substance also changes the brain’s chemistry. It attacks the brain, as it were. It changes the dopamine in the brain, and is especially deadly for people with Parkinson’s. Aspartame is highly poisonous.  Aspartame contains methyl alcohol. If the temperature of Aspartame goes above 30 degrees Celsius, the methyl alcohol in it is converted to formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which causes metabolic acidosis. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class of toxins like Cyanide and Arsenic, which are extremely deadly. The only difference is that Formaldehyde kills slowly. This process involves all kinds of neurological problems.

There are 92 documented symptoms where Aspartame poisoning leads to coma and death. Most of these symptoms are neurological, because Aspartame destroys the nervous system. One of these symptoms is Lupus, which has become almost as unbridled as MS, especially among Diet Coke drinkers. When someone gets Lupus from Aspartame consumption, they often do not know that Aspartame is the cause of it. Their Lupus will become life-threatening if they continue to consume Aspartame. If they stop using Aspartame, the severity of their Lupus will decrease. People assume that, once you get Lupus, you will have it for the rest of your life, but that is not the case. Lupus can be overcome with special treatment.

Aspartame poisoning is often diagnosed as MS. The methanol is poisonous in a way that mimics MS. People are diagnosed with MS even though they do not have it. MS is not a death sentence, while methanol poisoning often is. When people who suffer from Aspartame poisoning stop using Aspartame, most of the MS symptoms will disappear. In many cases the diagnosis was withdrawn. Some people even regained their sense of hearing. More and more people who drink a lot of Diet Coke are being diagnosed with MS. The same is true for other diseases. If you use Aspartame and are suffering from Fibromyalgia symptoms such as cramps, stabs of pain, numbness in your legs, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss, it is likely you do not have Fibromyalgia, but probably have Aspartame poisoning.

At a conference of the American College of Physicians, doctors admitted they did not know what caused the MS and Lupus epidemic. It is assumed that the phenylalanine in Aspartame increases the chances of epileptic attacks, and that it depletes serotonin, which causes manic depression, panic attacks, rage, and violence. According to the conference of the American College of Physicians, it is “about a plague of neurological diseases caused by this deadly poison”.

Aspartame is especially deadly for diabetics. All doctors know what methyl alcohol would do to a diabetic. There have been many cases in which doctors diagnosed retinopathy, when their symptoms were caused by Aspartame instead. Aspartame does not keep the blood sugar level under control, causing many patients to go into a coma. Many diabetics who switched from saccharine to Aspartame ended up in a coma. Their doctors could not get their blood sugar level under control. Patients suffered acute memory loss, and eventually went into coma and died.

Two prominent doctors, Dr. Blaylock and Dr. H. J. Roberts, have written books on Aspartame poisoning. Dr. Blaylock’s book is entitled: “Excitotoxins: the Taste That Kills”. Dr. H. J. Roberts, diabetes specialist and worldwide expert on Aspartame poisoning, wrote “Defense Against Alzheimer’s Disease”. Dr. Roberts realized what happened when Aspartame was first put on the market and used. He said that his diabetes patients who used Aspartame started suffering from memory loss, confusion, and serious loss of eyesight. The methanol in Aspartame is converted to formaldehyde in the eyes’ retina , and causes blindness. Memory loss occurs because aspartic acid and phenylalaline are neurotoxic without other amino acids found in protein. It passes the blood-brain barrier and is harmful to the neurons of the brain. Dr. Roberts explains how Aspartame poisoning worsens Alzheimer’s disease. Women aged 30 and up have developed Alzheimer’s disease as a result of using Aspartame.

Aspartame poisoning is also partially the cause of what is behind the mystery of the Desert Storm health problems (Gulf War Syndrome). The burning tongue and other problems that were discussed in more than 60 cases were directly related to the consumption of a product with Aspartame in it. Several thousands of pallets of light soft drinks were shipped to the Desert Storm troops. These pallets with diet drinks on them sat in the Arabic sun for weeks, exposed to temperatures of 48 degrees Celsius, causing methyl alcohol to form. The men and women who worked there drank them all day long, and their symptoms were identical to Aspartame poisoning. According to Dr. Roberts, another serious problem is that the consumption of Aspartame during pregnancy can lead to congenital defects. Aspartame attacks the unborn child’s nervous system, hindering its development.

Aspartame has also been shown to lead to cancer. In laboratory tests, Aspartame was fed to animals and that gave some of them brain tumours. The phenylalanine changed into DXP, which causes brain tumours.

Congressional hearings were held when Aspartame was originally approved for use in 100 different products. Since the first hearing, two more hearings followed to try and ban this product. The pharmaceutical and chemical lobbies of Monsanto have too much power. The list of 100 has now expanded to more than 5000 products that contain Aspartame, and the patent has expired. Aspartame is now available in more than 90 countries across the world. There is some hope. Stevia, a sweet herb that helps in the metabolism of sugar, has been found to be ideal for diabetics and has been approved as a dietary supplement by the F.D.A. The F.D.A. had banned this sweet substance for years because of their loyalty to Monsanto. Monsanto finances the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association, the Congress, and the conference of the American College of Physicians. They have the contacts and the power to bring their products on the market. Young people drink a lot of Diet Coke, making them the most susceptible to Aspartame poisoning. Warn people about the dangers of sweeteners and Aspartame. Products with “Sugar Free” on the label are sure to contain Aspartame.
