Attending Mooji’s Satsang

For many, Mooji, also known as Anthony Paul Moo-Young, is a spiritual guide who aims to help seekers of the Truth realize that ‘happy & free’ is our natural state of being. He accomplishes this by having us experience that, behind all our ideas, concepts, beliefs, feelings, thoughts, impulses, memories and expectations, we can come into contact with Who We Truly Are.

This True Self is the still Spectator inside us, that which is calmly aware of everything, That Which IS. We could attain this ego-less state of Being if we were to let go of all our identifications. It cannot be depressed, or anxious, or unhappy, or in a hurry … it just IS.

As such, going to see Mooji was certainly fitting for us as representatives of Stichting Gezondheid, which not only strives to help people with their physical health, but also with their emotional, psychological and spiritual health.

Prior to Mooji’s satsangs at the Philharmonie in Haarlem, we received a warm welcome from two serene-looking ladies dressed in ashram clothing. We were shown where we should sit. The hall was filled with people, a soft scent of incense was in the air and beautiful music was playing.

Everyone in the hall became enthusiastic when Mooji appeared. His face and appearance on their own were therapeutic enough: you could not help but feel happier, more cheerful and more In The Moment. Mooji had an easy smile and twinkling eyes and he radiated a pleasant aura of love. After sitting down, he took a few minutes to calmly take in all his attendees, as though he was wordlessly blessing everyone. Some people started sobbing or weeping.

Next, he told us he was going to help us let go of our identifications, to help us realize that we are vastness, tranquillity and emptiness, the reasons for the existence of life itself.

He asked us to let go of everything: our opinions, problems, thoughts, intentions, attachments, beliefs, convictions, interpretations of the present, everything. All the contents of our consciousness. The more ‘naked’ we become, the closer we get to this State of Being.

The hall became quiet. Mooji asked whether this Being had a birth. A death. Whether it could be limited. Or finite. Or impressed, flattered, offended. Or whether it could be owned exclusively by any organized religion … Every time, the answer from the hall was “no.” That which remains after we let go of all identifications of our ego, is The Being Present In Our Own Wholeness.

It seemed as though Mooji was giving us a crash course on Enlightenment. He wanted to have us experience transcendence. The message seemed to reach the audience. Seemed, because while Mooji asked us to leave our past behind us for the few hours we were together, the people who wanted to ask questions first started talking extensively about their pasts. And though Mooji asked us not to see him as a guru but to seek our own inner guru, various women in the hall asked if they could hug him as that was their one and only wish. And though Mooji indicated that he had no identity, Indian sitar music was playing for him, probably because it fits the image we have of a guru, though he was originally from Jamaica and spent forty years in London.

Mooji advised us to not just want to taste the proverbial honey, but to be it ourselves. “You become the answer.” He urged us to keep connecting with the Source, the eternal Being, the living experience we had just had. He explained that true spirituality is always simple. It makes your life lighter, more playful and more pure. The greatest discovery will be that everything is already within us. “Your homework is to Stay Home.”

The nicest thing about Mooji was his loving acceptance of the whole event. He regarded us with a lot of tenderness, knowing that the deeper truths require more time to truly sink in. He remained ever tolerant, endlessly patient and royally respectful, even when a man in the hall made a speech and ‘stole the show’ from him. He was more than happy to meet everyone on their own level. “Thank you,” said Mooji. “Thank You.”

The greatest proof that the godly world exists is a person who reflects godliness: as he watched and listened to the people, unconditional acceptance, endless patience and boundless love seemed to pour from his heart. Mooji IS. No concepts, opinions, identifications, annoyances, doubts, judgements, emotions … Only Being. He is the living example of what he preaches. His state of being is his religion. He seems to have found the godliness in his deepest inner self and to have placed his personality in the service of that godly Being.

We have a lot to learn from you, Mooji! Thank you for your inexhaustible patience for everyone and your calm, rock-solid faith in the invisible Light that will eventually let every part of the fundamentally undivided Self come to Self-Realization …

As we returned home, Mooji’s words still rang in our ears: “You are the seeds of Awakening in a sleeping world.”

What do orthodontists say? 

Orthodontists say that the cause, like with most other diseases,  is a mix of genetics and living conditions, but it is generally treated merely as a genetic problem while the overwhelming evidence points to a lack of certain nutrients and physical degeneration.

 

What is Malocclusion?

Malocclusion is the misalignment of jaws and/or teeth. It has grown into an epidemic problem which now concerns 95% of the people in the civilized world. It is completely normal to wear braces these days, but should we take it as normal?

An important distinction between cause and effect: orthodontists treat the symptoms (the effects) of malocclusion, but it is overtly acknowledged that they do not actually know by what it is caused.

 

Interesting to know!

  • There are 5400 types of mammals and human beings are the only species whose members may have crooked teeth.
  • The anatomical human being has existed for 160,000 years, whereas malocclusion appeared only 200 years ago and now affects almost 95% of the civilized world.
  • Our ancestors had 32 teeth which were perfectly lined up, and with 10 mm of space behind their wisdom teeth.
  • There was no need for orthodontics! No holes! White teeth! No caries! No braces!
  • Only 5% of our ancestors had malocclusion. (Trauma or disease being an obvious source).
  • Occlusion, teeth that are properly lined up, can be found in only five percent of the people in modern society.

 

Does heredity play role?

  • The theory of teeth displacement points out, that “too big teeth are inherited from father and too little jaw from mother”. If that was true, why don’t we see it then from parents whose jaws are too big and teeth are too small and with gaps between the teeth?
  • A little poodle can be crossed with a Great Dane (a much bigger dog) with an obvious contrast – big teeth and jaw, but their offspring will have perfectly aligned teeth and jaws.
  • At the beginning of the 19th century, when the world experienced great changes during the industrial revolution, there was a sudden increase in malocclusion.

 

This increase is the result of nutrition and physical degeneration

The Inuit people (Eskimos), who are recognized as Canadian citizens were given social housing and food resources. They moved to the modern civilization and developed the same level of malocclusion within two generations (similar observations were made worldwide). Gen theory cannot explain the high speed with which malocclusion emerges, especially when a pure-blooded population (e.g. the Eskimos) is affected so quickly.

Weston Price

Weston Price was a brilliant jaw surgeon. When he was sixty, he had earned enough money and said to his wife: “We are going to make a world trip”. He rented a little plane and visited 14 places. Here he carried out research among the population. People who were separated from the modern world, but also people of the the civilized world. His findings were remarkable.

 

Switzerland, Loetsschental 1932

The population of this valley was closed off the outside world and they ate only food that they grew themselves, milk and meat from their own livestock. People from that valley had perfectly aligned healthy teeth, a round head, flat nose and eyes that were set further from each other. No one there suffered from malocclusion! Three percent at the very most.

Weston Price did research in 13 more different places and came to the conclusion that a lack of certain nutrients changes the shape of our skull, making it more narrow in the people of civilized society, and for that reason our teeth are not aligned in the appropriate way anymore. 1.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps your body restart and replenisches your energy supply after having been at rest while you were asleep. The ideal breakfast contains fats, carbohydrates and protein, such as a combination of fruit, bread, fibers and milk.

2.  It is important to have a balanced diet if you want to live a healthy life. This means you will have to make sure you get all essential nutrients in the right amounts. It will boost your energy and you will feel better. Be careful with vitamins and minerals; too much or too little of a vitamin or mineral ,may cause undesirable side effects!

3.  Be aware of the amount of salt you take in with your snacks and meals. Table salt (or sodium chloride) is used worldwide as flavor enhancer. But too much salt can be a risk factor for diseases as high blood pressure, heartburn, osteoporosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The simplest way to avoid getting these diseases is decreasing your salty product consumption and using salt as flavor enhancer as little as possible. Try using herbs instead.

4.  Stay away from buffets and other all-you-can-eat meals. These will stimulate you to eat more than necessary, because you don’t want to waste money. If you do get tempted, it would be wise to pick food that is full of nutrients, like fresh fruit, vegetable salads and low-fat food. Try not to get a second serving.

5.  Limit your consumption of processed food, such as canned, frozen and dried products. These processes change the natural components of the food, which makes it less useful to our body. Especially the usage of chemicals to prolong the shelf life of products or as flavor enhancer can be harmful to many of our bodily functions.

6.  Focus on eating wholesome food. This means eating unprocessed, natural and fresh foods. These foods contain components in their purest form and because they don’t have any chemicals to make them more appetizing, have the best effect on our body. Adding fresh fruits and vegetables will make wholesome food more appetizing.

7.  Removing all visible skin and fat from poultry and other birds before cooking or baking them is the best and healthiest way to prepare them. Grill or cook poultry, instead of frying it up, where it will absorb grease or oil.  A chicken’s breast is the best part of a chicken, because it contains a lot of protein and relatively little fat.

8.  Water is essential if you want to live a healthy life. It is advised to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, which comes down to about 1,5 to 2 liters. It enables cells, tissue and organs to do their work. A deficit of bodily fluids or dehydration can be bad for your kidneys and other organs and can lead to mental confusion, a coma or even death if it isn’t taken care of right away.

9.  Try to limit the amount of fats in your diet. Foods that have a naturally low percentage of fats are fruit, vegetables, beans and grains. The packing shows the amount of fats a product contains. There is a big difference between a prescribed medical diet pill and over-the-counter pills.

Over-the-counter pills often contain natural ingredients, such as apple cider vinegar. These ingredients support your lipid metabolism. It is easier to lose weight when combining both a weight decreasing diet and a diet pill. However, the concentration of active ingredients in these compounds are not high enough to make you lose weight on its own. It can even be harmful in high dosages.

Diet pills and weight loss shakes from Modifast, Bional and Proactol Plus are examples of products available in the supermarket. These pills have been tested and proven to be harmless. However it will be good to keep in mind these pill and shakes will not create miracles and can only be an addition in your attempt to lose weight.

A doctor will only prescribe you diet pills if you are morbidly obese or when you have severe health issues related to your weight. In these cases your health will be in danger, which makes medical intervention necessary.

Side effects

Especially the medical diet pills can cause a lot of side effects. These vary from palpitations, insomnia and headache to a high blood pressure and nausea.
Other unpleasant side effect cans be diarrhea, flatulence or a greasy stool. Alli is one of the pills that can give you these side effect. Luckily these effects are often temporary.
